And related equipment.
And convert it to cash…
to provide water to save lives and improve living standards
|
|
How are we different?
|
|
Although the awareness of and response to this problem is increasing,
much work remains. Solatex is unique among non-governmental
organizations working on this problem because of its business model.
Rather than solicit donations from the consumer, Solatex solicits
industrial and commercial users of technology for surplus and salvage
assets that are then sold on existing, mature secondary markets. |

Why we do this
|
|
Approximately 4 billion cases of diarrhea each year cause 2.2 million
deaths, mostly among children under the age of five. This is equivalent
to one child dying every 15 seconds, or 20 jumbo jets crashing every
day. These deaths represent approximately 15% of all child deaths under
the age of five in developing countries. (World Health Organization,
2002) Other disease death, illness and lost productivity drive the
total human cost even higher.

|
Why we do this
|
|
The typical Solatex solution involves drilling / completing the water
well, setting surface equipment, setting ground storage / distribution
solutions and providing training. The solution is humanitarian in its
relief and environmentally sound as the donated equipment is ‘recycled’
in the secondary market and the water well is typically powered by
solar panels.
